Salamanca Market Hobart: The Saturday Market at Battery Point
The Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning along Salamanca Place at the foot of Hobart's Battery Point, is one of the most celebrated outdoor markets in Australia. Around 300 stalls cover fresh produce, handmade crafts, local art, clothing, fresh flowers, street food and Tasmanian specialty products including leatherwood honey, cold-climate wines and smoked salmon. The market runs rain or shine from approximately 8:30am to 3pm, and the historic sandstone warehouses behind the stalls are a UNESCO World Heritage-nominated backdrop. Arriving before 10am for the best selection is recommended. Entry is free, parking is limited, and the market is an easy walk from Hobart CBD via the waterfront.
